24 Hours From Tulsa

24 Hours From Tulsa A quick post about 15 minute cities I've heard of the idea of 15 minute cities and the furore about how once again the Government wants to take our rights away and imprison us lockdown style. But on reflection I fail to see what all the fuss is about. It appears to me that most of us already live much of our lives within a fairly small radius of our homes. The idea of not having to commute an hour and a half to work is something I would welcome with open arms. The real problem seems to me to be over zealous councils who have misunderstood the concept and used it as an excuse to introduce traffic restrictions with inadequate planning or consideration of resident wishes and needs. Couple this with the the threat that you're only allowed to travel outside of your 'zone' a half dozen times a year and they have turned something which would suit many of us as a way of life, and is indeed how many of us have always lived, into a genuinely dystopian nightm...

Live and Let Die

Live and Let Die Paul McCartney and Wings When you were young and your heart was an open book. I can't for the life of me remember why I got round to thinking about a final solution to the Jupno problem, but it made me do more research into Papua New Guinea and the origin of the Sing Sing and particularly the Goroka Sing Sing. If you want please watch the video at the bottom of the link from 3.50 minutes , I've only had a quick view so if you want watch the 3 examples of people cracking sticks together and rubbing them between their hands. I wondered if this came from teaching women and children to make fire or just a celebration of the discovery of fire. Papua New Guinea: Tribes, Rituals and Sing Sings This also made me think about the Asaro version.   I wondered if the origin of this story wasn't the collapse of a stone dam causing a flood and the rebuilding of the dam with wooden bracing poles. Death dancing wildly would relate to the loss of life from the original flood...

We'll Live and Die in These Towns

We'll Live and Die in These Towns The Enemy Had another brief thought, being unemployed and homeless I've had trouble adjusting to my straightened circumstances and wondered whether the Government ought to allow people to draw just the income from pension funds tax free up to the limit of the zero rate band to cover short periods of unemployment to help with living costs, maybe a maximum of 1 year out of every 3. As long as you had to leave the capital intact until retirement age, it could possibly help, I know it would help me at the moment. Something New Copyright ©️ Romford Rob Jackson

Wheels of Steel

Wheels of Steel Saxon Had another thought yesterday, why not paddle wheels driving a generator on top of a lorry's cab for hybrid haulage? When thinking about this idea I also thought this might have some use for tidal power and could operate in both directions and may be more efficient than current designs. Machine Head

Machine Head He feels it from his soul Just had a quick thought. Why aren't there Braille stickers on LP, CD and DVD cases. Is there any reason visually impaired people can't easily enjoy physical media collecting? I would have thought the tactile experience of putting vinyl on the turntable and hearing the slight crackle as the needle is touched down would be particularly pleasing to many of them.
