I've Got a Strong Constitution

 I've Got a Strong Constitution

With the next General Election coming up soon I got to thinking what could be done about our current crop of politicians, whether it be the narcissistic warmonger Tony Bliar and the vile traitor Jack Straw or the filthy rich, foreign, tax dodging, benefit scrounging, weaselly Indian Rishi Sunak and came up with the following draft manifesto which if passed into statute could form the basis of a British Constitution.

It consists of just two pledges which if enacted in law might seek to reign these people in a bit for quite some time.

The first is "Any governing party or coalition shall during their term of office seek to make law all of their manifesto pledges. Failure to do so is punishable by a mandatory 10 years imprisonment without parole for all and any Members of Parliament of the Government during that term. This Act can only be overturned by a simple majority of all eligible voters in a referendum."

The second is "No governing party or coalition shall secede the primacy of Parliament to any other body without first seeking a mandate from a simple majority of all eligible voters in a referendum."

Simple isn't it. But think about it. Every party standing for election would have an incentive to think up and try to implement policies that were high on the public agenda such as immigration and the European Union and actually put them in their manifesto. Any party which simply didn't put the policies that were high on the public agenda in their manifesto probably wouldn't be trusted and wouldn't get voted in to power.

They gave us worthless rights, they deserve meaningful obligations.
