7 Deadly Sins

7 Deadly Sins I'm going to draw your attention to my previous post 'Scary Bitches' and my interest in Islam and the similarities between the Bible and the Holy Q'uran. The earlier post was not meant to be sarcastic, even if it seemed that way, it was a genuine attempt to reinterpret the hadith in a more moderate fashion. This time I'll look at the seven deadly sins and see if there aren't parallels between the bible version (even though it was changed in the 7th Century) and the Holy Q'uran version. Apologies if this offends, it is not my intention. I found these two links: One from Abu Amina Elias:  https://www.abuaminaelias.com/dailyhadithonline/2019/06/15/avoid-seven-mortal-sins/ And the Wikipedia version:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_deadly_sins The Islamic sins are: Idolatry with Allah, occult magic, killing a soul that Allah has sanctified except for a just cause, consuming usury, usurping the property of an orphan, fleeing the battlefield, and...

Update - Zytronic PLC

Update - Zytronic PLC Disclaimer: I am not qualified nor authorised to give investment advice, please seek professional advice before acting on any of my posts. Just to let my very few readers know that I sold two thirds of my holding in this company after the news that they appear to be planning a solvent liquidation and not a sale of the operating business. Board Changes - 07:00:06 18 Dec 2024 - ZYT News article | London Stock Exchange I think in this eventuality the return to shareholders will be significantly less than a sale, although I still hope to get back 60-70p it is not so clear whether I will or not. Spreading the Disease

Spreading the Disease Antisocial Just been thinking while resting my head in my hospital bed and wondered if a good way for the Government to raise cash to pay for essential services such as the Police would be to allow them to impose on the spot fines for incidences of antisocial behaviour without going through the Courts. For example urinating up a lamp post or dogging in too conspicuous a place, fighting after the pub or petty vandalism could all attract a £30 fine. I hope this doesn't seem too draconian, but I know from my own experience of having been fined for dropping cigarette butts that it makes you a lot more careful not to do it in the same area again and to look for a bin. Maybe an idea such as this could make our neighbourhoods nicer places to live and better Policed. Copyright ©️ Romford Rob Jackson

Bloodhound Gang

Bloodhound Gang Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo I've written before about my travails with the broken and corrupt mental health service at NELFT and today was a case in point. I was told a couple of days ago that I was off section today and hence tried to discharge myself. I was told I was actually on a section 3 and hence could be detained over Christmas until April (it could be my last chance to have a family Christmas with my very elderly parents). Two dates have been given for my assessment so these contradict. But there is another more worrying problem. The "Dr." who? drove these papers uses two names, both of whom are registered on the GMC database. Which Doctor is he in fact. He uses the names Dr. Khalid Jaffar no. 4633635 and also the name Dr. Mohammad Mahmood no. 6099797. He is very coy about giving you his GMC registration number. I wonder why? And there is another problem, just this summer I was on the verge of being discharged from the service altogether but no...

China In Your Hand

Image
China In Your Hand T'Pau Images Copyright The British Antique Dealers' Association I haven't written about my finds at boot sales for a while, and unfortunately I've been sectioned under the Mental Health Act again so haven't had as much chance to go as I'd like, weather permitting. I actually tried a new boot sale the last time I went, this time the Lazybones Barleylands winter bootsale and a very productive morning it was too. Amongst an assorted bag of mixed china I bought for £4 I bought a Davenport plate, an example of their works can be seen in the image above. It appears to be hand decorated with a bird and I paid no more than £1 for it. From the same stall I also bought a surrealist oil painting on board by a listed artist whose name escapes me at the moment for no more than £1 again. The painting alone may be worth as much as £100 at auction. The plate I guess is worth maybe another £50. I cannot find an example of a plate similar to the one I bought...

The Mask

The Mask Smokin' As someone who's struggled with nicotine addiction dreadfully over the years I've tried all sorts of cessation methods including patches, mouth sprays (I find these effective) ,cold turkey (I have managed this in the past for as long as 14 years!) and Nicorette Inhalators. The Inhalators are effective but my big gripe is that they are way too expensive for a 40 a day smoker like me and that the cartridges don't last long enough. As far as I can work out the cartridges are merely a sponge soaked in liquid nicotine which give a quick boost of nicotine for just a few minutes. But the problem is they seem to cost over £20 for just 6 cartridges from high street stores. That makes it a lot more expensive than smoking for me. I wondered if Nicorette couldn't change the design to make them look more like traditional cigarettes, perhaps just a sealed sponge wrapped in paper like a cigarette, this may also be more environmentally friendly, make them last a ...

Zytronic PLC

Zytronic PLC I haven't written about any stock ideas for a while so here's a new one I think could present an opportunity. Please note I am not qualified nor authorised to give advice so if I pique your interest please consider taking some professional advice before investing. It's another microcap, this time a designer and manufacturer of touchscreen technology for various markets including casino gaming and cashpoints. The company has been struggling for a few years recently, largely due to the closure of casinos in the Far East due to Covid and recently announced a strategic review. The conclusion of this review was that the company should be sold or wound down. Conclusion of Strategic Review - 07:00:07 14 Nov 2024 - ZYT News article | London Stock Exchange Now, in my opinion the opportunity from this investment comes from the steep discount the shares trade at to the value of the fixed and liquid assets on their balance sheet. For example the whole company can current...

SL - Gentleman

SL - Gentleman MixtapeMadness Afternoon my diminished readership. Some time ago I got around to thinking about Media Studies courses and why they weren't more popular with some of the urban youth who aspire to a career in the music and film industry. Well, this is what AI says about Media Studies courses at UK universities. Media studies courses  teach students about the media industry and how it affects media products, as well as how media and culture influence each other .  Students also learn about media audiences and how different people respond to media products. Looking at this quote makes me think that all of these courses focus way too much on the sociological factors that influence media consumption and nowhere near enough on the practical side of things that can lead to a career in all types of media: new media content production such as the internet, English language, music and T.V. and film production, lighting etc. I thought that if some of these courses co...

Come An' Get It

Come An' Get It Whitesnake I've been thinking about how to help working families with the cost of childcare and wondered if a policy of allowing one of the parents the statutory right to work from home from the end of maternity leave up until the start of school of their children (about the age of 5) wouldn't go some way to achieve this. Obviously I know that in some families it is simply not possible for either parent to work from home but thought something could be done for these people through the tax system to allow them to cover the cost of childcare. The advantages of a scheme such as this could be numerous, for example, a lot less car journeys and journeys by public transport, a lowering of the cost of childcare generally due to reduced demand and hopefully a better bond between the parent and child in the all important formative years. Just a quick thought on an otherwise quiet Tuesday. The Bishop of Bath and Wells Copyright ©️ Romford Rob Jackson  /
